So I signed on to FB
the other morning and was surprised to see that my sister won a $500 target gift card, supported
Eminem and liked crippled men playing soccer. Ok- my sister has probably never
heard an Eminem song, and while she likes soccer- “liking” a picture about
crippled men playing it seemed… oh I dunno… ODD.
I noticed she was on
chat so I messaged her:
Ok- so WHOOPS! Clearly my sister should refrain from typing FB messages on her cellphone. But
really people- why are we “liking” things so…well… stupid? You know, the
posts that say “if you like ice cream like this picture of a sundae” and then
it goes out to all of your friends. Well that’s great that you like sundaes,
but frankly I don’t need to be reminded. Who doesn't like ice cream now and then?
This morning when I got
into work- my boss had a questionable video on her page of a girls big
arse. She likes big butts and she cannot lie! I kid I kid. Now, SHE was
really hacked. Didn’t catch that one. Oh well!
I know I recently wrote
off FB - claiming it was depreciating my life. Well - although I still
believe all of that to an extent, these two events make me happy I've
scaled my usage back a bit. But in other news, FB has helped me connect with family
in Scotland, which is great.
Happy Friday.

Kate,
ReplyDeleteFor what it's worth, my fiance wrote a blog for a long time before she met me. First date I asked her why she wrote a blog; why did she feel anyone needed to know about her life's ups and down, her thoughts?
Maybe all she needed was someone sorta setting her straight about wtf is up with the over share.
I take that back.
I think all she needed was to know that someone loved her beyond the beyond and would be there through it all.
I wish the same fro you. Because, seriously---well, you know what I was going to say
